Mutiny Is Brewing (yes, that’s what it says on the sign) is a modest, one story light green building set back from the street, and a bit out of the center of the small town of Joseph, Oregon. The front outdoor space is dedicated to a good-sized flower garden, as well as some shade trees, with quite a few tables set amid the flowers, and a slightly raised wooden deck with even more tables. All the tables have fine views of the nearby Wallowa mountains.

Inside is a medium-sized long rectangular room. On the left is a two-sided small light wood bar with wooden stools. The rest of the room has light wooden tables with matching tall-backed chairs. Windows run all along the long side facing the deck. The floor is light wooden plans, the ceiling is light tan, and each wall is painted a different color - dark green, dark purple, sky blue, and aqua. Very nice carved wood ornaments with beer-related motifs (hop leaves and grain) outline the windows and adorn the posts. And another carved wooden piece behind the bar displays the message “Non semper erit aestas” (it will not always be summer; a nice message for this high elevation location).

Currently, there are only two of their beers available at any given time (“Ssswheat” with coriander and orange peel and a respectable pale ale on our latest visit) but they’re soon to get a new tank serving system, so availability may improve. We still recommend a visit, as the setting is great and it’s a friendly welcoming place with a bright, light, clean, modern-feel.

The small brewery is visible through a large window behind the bar and from the front patio through a glass garage door.

This was a great place to find. In the middle of the summer over looking both the mountain range and lake this is a great place for some tasty beers. New and trying to find there feet they have good food selection and are working on a bigger draft selection. This is a great town to have a friendly brewpub. I know when near here I will be visiting. After a day on the river the beers where very tasty.
